Terms of Service
By installing elemChat from the App Store you agree to the following terms. These are written in plain English on purpose.
Plain English: elemChat is an app that helps you chat with AI models through OpenRouter. We don't run the models, we don't see your chats. You're responsible for your OpenRouter account and how you use the app. The app is provided as-is.
1. What elemChat is
elemChat is a native iOS client for OpenRouter. It lets you send chat messages to AI models that OpenRouter routes on your behalf. elemChat does not host, train, or operate any AI models — it is purely a client interface.
2. Your OpenRouter account
To use elemChat you need an OpenRouter API key from openrouter.ai. Your relationship with OpenRouter — including billing, usage limits, and acceptable use — is governed by their terms, not ours. We are not OpenRouter and we are not affiliated with them beyond using their public API.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use elemChat to:
- Violate OpenRouter's terms of service or any model provider's usage policy.
- Generate content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
- Resell or rebrand the app without written permission.
4. AI-generated content
elemChat displays output generated by AI models. This output can be inaccurate, biased, offensive, or unsafe. You are responsible for evaluating any content before relying on it. We provide no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of model output.
5. In-App Purchases
Some features (collectively, "elemChat Pro") are unlocked via a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. The unlock is associated with your Apple ID and can be restored on other devices signed in with the same ID. Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple under their refund policy.
We may add or change which features sit behind the Pro unlock in future versions. Features already unlocked at the time of purchase will remain unlocked for purchasers.
6. Updates & availability
We may release updates that add, modify, or remove features. We make no commitment to maintain backward compatibility with older iOS versions over time. We may discontinue the app, although we'll do our best to give notice if so.
7. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
elemChat is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, elemCo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, model output costs, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the app.
8. Apple's role
You acknowledge that these terms are between you and elemCo, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the "last updated" date and note material changes in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where elemCo is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
